Whenever the subject of communities and communal living comes uo, a variety of doubts and suspicions is usually aroused. The possible brainwashing of impressionable young people is frequently mentioned. Although the idea itself is centuries old, it has yet to be accepted as an approved method of living, even in this so-called New Age. Of the many hundreds that have been started, very few have proven successful. The fact that Ananda has done so remarkably well against terrifying odds, and that at every time of crisis help always seems to come in some extraordinary way, invites attention. During his lifetime, which ended in 1952, Yogananda called for the founding of spiritual communities dedicated to world brotherhood and to "simple living and high thinking." Ananda is the first response to this directive. Its remarkable history, and its present expanding horizons, are the subject of this work.

The compelling story of a groundbreaking, 12-year legal battle launched against the smaller Ananda Church by the established and wealthy Self-Realization Fellowship—both followers of spiritual master, Paramhansa Yogananda, author of the classic Autobiography of a Yogi. SRF's intent was, as the judge observed, “to put Ananda out of business.” Includes rare vignettes that offer a timeline glimpse into the challenges of Yogananda's own mission to the West.

Success in every area of life depends on the power of one’s magnetism to attract it. Broadly defined, magnetism is the power of attraction. Ordinary metal magnets attract other metal objects according to the power of the magnets. The stronger the magnet, the stronger the magnetism. Magnetism is not only a property of certain metals, however. Applied to people, magnetism is an inner force which attracts people, things, and opportunities that are on the same “wavelength.” A basic principle of magnetism is that “like attracts like.” We become like the people with whom we mingle, not through their conversation, but through the magnetic vibrations emanating from their bodies. The person whose magnetism is stronger gives his vibrations to the other. There are as many different types of magnetism as there are people. Musicians have one kind of magnetism, financiers another, and scientists still another. We must first decide what kind of magnetism we want and then associate with those people who possess it. If we want to become artists, we should associate with talented artists. If we want to become good at business, we should associate with successful business people or leaders. If we want to become strong spiritually, we should associate with devotees of God. Paramhansa Yogananda—the great spiritual teacher and author of the classic, Autobiography of a Yogi—described spiritual magnetism as the “power of all powers,” and often counseled people, even those seeking material success, to concentrate first on developing spiritual magnetism. He said: “Develop power to attract the highest thing, then you can easily attract all lesser things.” When we have strong spiritual magnetism, we are able to attract whatever else we need: inspiration, money, the right job, a good living situation, or a compatible life partner. Naidhruva Rush graduated from Harvard Law School in 1964, and then worked in the Civil Rights Movement as a staff attorney for the NAACP Legal Defense Fund. She later served as Director of Community Law Offices in New York City. While working as a law professor in the mid-1970s, Naidhruva read Paramansa Yogananda’s classic "Autobiography of a Yogi", and a year later, moved to Ananda Village with her eight-year-old son. Since then, Naidhruva has served as a minister and teacher at Ananda, offering courses on meditation and spiritual living. She currently serves as editor of "The Essence of Clarity" (formerly Clarity magazine) and previously edited "In Divine Friendship" and "Swami Kriyananda: A Life in God". Naidhruva is also the author of "The Ananda Cookbook".

Astronomically, the intersection points of the sun and moon – on their movements in the celestial sphere – are called Rahu and Kethu. They are also called the north node and south node. Rahu and Kethu are unimaginably huge dark shadows in space. During their transit, when their shadow falls on any planet, that planet’s all-effects will be completely altered or diverted by Rahu and Kethu. Rahu and Kethu are solely responsible for a beggar to become a millionaire and a millionaire to become a beggar. This book elaborately discusses the effects of Rahu and Kethu. In the horoscope, how Rahu and Kethu are positioned, how the planets and the houses (Bhavas) are affected by them in the birth chart are all analysed in this book. How and when the natives will be affected? To what extent they will be affected? It is because of the birth chart, the transit movement and the Dhasa Bhukthi of Rahu and Kethu? They are all clearly explained in this book with many birth charts. Kindly read this book thoroughly, analyse it with your known people’s horoscope, and experience the result. It will surely give you goosebumps!

Teaching Yoga is an essential resource for new and experienced teachers as well as a guide for all yoga students interested in refining their skills and knowledge. Addressing 100% of the teacher training curriculum standards set by Yoga Alliance, the world's leading registry and accreditation source for yoga teachers and schools, Teaching Yoga is also ideal for use as a core textbook in yoga teacher training programs. Drawing on a wide spectrum of perspectives, and featuring more than 150 photographs and illustrations, the book covers fundamental topics of yoga philosophy and history, including a historical presentation of classical yoga literature: the Vedas, Upanishads, Bhagavad Gita, Yoga Sutras of Pataljali, and the main historical sources on tantra and early hatha yoga. Each of the eleven major styles of contemporary yoga is described, with a brief history of its development and the distinguishing elements of its teachings. Exploring traditional and modern aspects of anatomy and physiology, the book provides extensive support and tools for teaching 108 yoga poses (asanas), breathing techniques (pranayama), and meditation. Teaching Yoga offers practical advice for classroom setup, planning and sequencing classes, as well as the process involved in becoming a teacher and sustaining oneself in the profession. The book has over 200 bibliographic sources, a comprehensive index, and a useful appendix that lists associations, institutes, organizations, and professional resources for yoga teachers.
