A brutally honest portrayal of the realities of war, this novel relays the story of fifteen-year-old Thomas Elkin as he engages in the First World War. A tale of conflict, both global and personal, and of redemption, this novel has the potential to rank alongside the best of retrospective First World War literature. Accepting the blame for the accidental death of his recently conscripted brother, Elkin switches identity with his dead sibling and enters into the fray of the conflict. His burning ambition is to die a glorious death in his brothers name.Believing that in fully submitting to the reality of war he is atoning for his sins, he faces all the attendant horrors with a steel will and a poignant resignation. His personal conflict sees itself mirrored in the wider events and soon the two are inextricably linked raising issues of mortality, morality, guilt and faith. This novel enacts the kind of existential crises experienced on the battlefield with the constant threat of the imminent and fatal danger a companion.Written with deft skill and sensitivity for the subject matter at hand, this is a piece of stylish work that places the reader at the heart of the action. Featuring nuanced characters and vivid action scenes, it works to evoke a real sense of the times as the story unfolds.

Thousands of years ago, artifacts of the early space age were lost to rising oceans and widespread turmoil. Garnett Baylee devoted his life to finding them, only to give up hope. Then, in the wake of his death, one was found in his home, raising tantalizing questions. Had he succeeded after all? Why had he kept it a secret? And where is the rest of the Apollo cache? Antiquities dealer Alex Benedict and his pilot, Chase Kolpath, have gone to Earth to learn the truth. But the trail seems to have gone cold, so they head back home to be present when the Capella, the interstellar transport that vanished eleven years earlier in a time/space warp, is expected to reappear. With a window of only a few hours, rescuing it is of the utmost importance. Twenty-six hundred passengers—including Alex’s uncle, Gabriel Benedict, the man who raised him—are on board. Alex now finds his attention divided between finding the artifacts and anticipating the rescue of the Capella. But time won’t allow him to do both. As the deadline for the Capella’s reappearance draws near, Alex fears that the puzzle of the artifacts will be lost yet again. But Alex Benedict never forgets and never gives up—and another day will soon come around...

Coming Home is a book that fictionally completes the stories of two men in the Bible. The first gives insight into Jesus' parable of what we know as the Prodigal (or Lost) Son, explaining the thoughts of the son, his brother, and his father in Luke 15:11-32. Jesus begins this parable with the words, "A certain man had two sons." The main character is Jakobi, and I have added information into the lives of his entire family. This parable could have been about someone's family in the crowd of listeners in Jericho. Jesus wanted the listeners to finish the parable in their own way, so this story was left unfinished. I developed an ending regarding the two sons, the feelings of the parents, an explanation as to why the younger son left home and later returned, and the feelings of the elder son. The second story, "Bartimaeus," concerns the healing of a blind man in Mark 10:46-52. The Bible does not give this man's age, but allows us to understand that he once had sight. Many of the healed biblical figures were not always named, yet we read he is the son of Timaeus. When Jesus asked what he wanted from Him, he responded that he wanted to regain his sight. How did he become blind in the first place, and what happened after Jesus healed him? I pray you'll enjoy Coming Home, as I tried to finish their stories and future lives following their return home. "The author uses her creative imagination to fill in the missing information of several Bible stories, without violating the integrity of the stories. As a pastor, I recommend this book to all." -Reverend James A. and Maryann Roma Wintergreen Ledges Church of God, Akron, Ohio
