The U.S. gov¿t. considers the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia a vital partner in combating terrorism. The strong diplomatic relationship between the U.S. and Saudi Arabia, founded more than 70 years ago, was strained by the Al Qaeda attacks of September 11, 2001, that were carried out in large part by Saudi nationals and killed thousands of U.S. citizens. This report examined: (1) the U.S. gov¿t. strategy to collaborate with and assist the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to counter terrorism and terrorism financing; and (2) U.S. gov¿t. agencies' assessment of and the Saudi government's views on progress toward the goals of this strategy. It analyzed relevant U.S. and Saudi strategy, planning, and evaluation documents related to efforts since 2005. Illustrations.

Countering terrorism tops the list of America&BAD:’s devilish set of problems. Americans deal with terrorism and the threat of terrorism through enhanced investigative tools in hopes of interdicting terrorism before it strikes; as a law enforcement issue; as a matter for international cooperation and diplomacy; and as a species of war best fought by the military. These approaches are not mutually exclusive, nor are they exhaustive. Nor have they, or will they, be successful all of the time. But as a central focus of U.S. national security strategy, the stakes couldn&BAD:’t be higher. In ten comprehensive chapters, Combating Terrorism discusses tools and tactics for dealing with this ever-changing challenge, with a focus on how they operate in the real world. Additionally readers are encouraged to explore why terrorists might strike and what might be done to ameliorate root causes. The authors also discuss the dynamics of homeland security planning and recovery, with an examination of the crucial role of the media and our government&BAD:’s public affairs function in crisis situations. Each chapter features a series of case studies designed to give students a quick study of actual terrorist actions and the counter strategies at work, offering further insight into the complexities of combating terrorism.

Countries such as Japan, France, Spain, England and others have been targeted and attacked as well. As opposed to traditional forms of war where the enemy is known and locatable, the war on terrorism features foggily-defined enemies who seem at the same time everywhere and nowhere. This book presents important new reports of issues, trends and developments in the global war on terrorism.

The world has witnessed a revolution that changed the course of history, which is the industrial revolution, and the world is now witnessing another revolution, but it is of a new kind, a revolution that depends on information and knowledge, namely the technological revolution. It is mostly considered that the current era, is the era of digital use par excellence. The internet has become the backbone of most daily interactions, and the tendency of most countries and governments to adopt smart systems, and the matter has gone beyond building smart and powerful cities, and with ease of use, the cheapness of cost, and great return, the number of internet users has increased. Where the number of internet users and associated devices is expected to reach four billion by 2020, equivalent to half of the world's population and with the increasing dependence on it in all areas of life, whether they are political, military, economic, legal, social and other various fields. With the transformation of social media sites to be an unconventional actor in international relations, the Internet has become a double-edged sword, just as it was a means to achieve human prosperity and progress, there is another dark side, with the increasing threats and risks resulting from the increasing dependence on it in an open world governed by unseen interactions, and the absence of a higher legal authority to control it. This book provides research and analysis on how electronic terrorism, seek to disturb the security of societies and spread fear among citizens, while it is imperative for governments to change their traditional concepts and adopt concepts that are compatible with this new era, that can be called the "Electronic Age". This book interactively explores fundamental principles on the concept of terrorism in the digital age and how terrorist groups and certain individuals use it to carry out their attacks worldwide. Alongside, by structuring terrorism in the age of technology, studying terrorism through communications and media, inspect international cooperation against online terrorism. Last but not least, examining how we can prevent and counter electronic terrorism, and lastly showing a solid perspective on how the future of digital terrorism could become.

The introductory chapter of this book presents the concepts of the bene?ts inherent in the study of comparative approach for an effective counterterrorism response on the local law enforcement level and overviews the inception of the project. Throughout the twentieth century and into the twenty-?rst century, especially after the events of September 11, 2001, the legitimacy of law enforcement practices has been cited as a major concern for international criminal justice. As policing pr- titioners and scholars throughout the world shifted focus from a traditional reactive, crime control stance to the need for accountability mechanisms to ensure the s- port of citizenry in combating crime and terrorism, the democratization of policing was seen as the best mechanism for achieving long-term gains in public order at the same time as protecting human rights. While the need to maintain human rights remains an important issue, balancing these concerns with the important public safety interests of societies is paramount.
