From Beer to Paternity

This is where you have some beers with your peers. Would you go to the bar if you hadn't scored a par? No way, Callaway! What has this got to do with donuts, you may well ask? It's all about focus, my friend.

Most people don’t have retentive memories, so verbalizing your opinions can sometimes be an historical nightmare: especially when beer is involved. That is why I have recorded the preceding pages for posterity. It is a bit of a guy thing but I am sure that women will love it. In all modesty, these essays and articles are all about me but I would be surprised if some of them didn’t resonate with your own arsenal of memories. My shallow life is trivial but not uninteresting. You may recognize a like-minded soul? If so, we are well on the way to being book-buddies. My narratives are laced with wit and humor and revolve around the issues that you care about: relationships, animals, travel, sport stories and some celebrity revelations that you will find almost unbelievable. I commend the publication to you and urge you to consider it, when contemplating Birthdays, Christmas and Bar Mitzvahs. Gerry Burke Melbourne, Australia

Paddy Pest, the ubiquitous Aussie gumshoe, is immersed in a world full of beautiful women, conniving conspirators, and covert agents. Never without his Beretta or fold-up boomerang, Paddy is always prepared—a good thing, since he is about to take a ride on the wild side with his entourage of female associates. Stormy Weathers, Paddy’s girlfriend and wing person, is known for her flaming red hair, nice legs, and her ability to hold her own in a fight. Pest surrounds himself with girls with guns and they mean business. Ariadne Vasilis has long black hair, a brutal arm-chop, and a fierce loyalty to her country, as does the delightful French gendarme Yvette Baguette. She wouldn’t be seen dead without her Paris fashion labels. From a salacious situation in Salem to a conundrum in Kentucky! There’s murder in Melbourne and mystery in Moscow, and Paddy’s people are playing for keeps. Paddy’s People is a collection of short stories laced with treachery, mayhem, and mischievous behavior that encompass some of Paddy’s worldwide adventures and acknowledge those men and women who have been inspired by his exploits.

President Gus Snoodle has obviously rubbed someone the wrong way. Despite the fact that there have been no escalating wars, no sizzling scandals, and no bad reviews of his performance on Dancing with the Stars, his poll numbers are plunging, there is a contract out on him, and his conspirators will stop at nothing to bring him down. No one is prepared for the intervention of visiting Aussie dynamo Paddy Pest: probably the greatest sleuth to have been denied recognition in his own country or any other. With help from the CIA, the Secret Service, and several beautiful women, Paddy attempts to find a motive for the conspiracy. From a high rollers room in Las Vegas to a Texas airfield, Paddy and his delightful wing person, Saffron Splendido, must ingratiate themselves with the president to avoid a catastrophe. A budding romance only complicates matters as White House deputy chief of staff, Jack Rice, takes a shine to Saffron, leaving everyone to contemplate whether she will become Mrs. Saffron Rice. With more questions than answers, the presidential caravan rolls from Massachusetts to Memphis in search of votes, while a killer quietly waits to strike. In this humorous political tale, an American president, who is the victim of a diabolical conspiracy, must rely on the talents of a fearless Aussie detective to save his lifeand hopefully his presidency.
