Sigfluence is a word invented by John F. Loase in 1984. It means significant, long-term, positive influence. After 20-plus years of research, Loase recently had a big breakthrough. He found that 18- to 25-year-olds have an especially high need to affect sigfluence. However, The Sigfluence Generation needs guidance from the Baby Boomer Generation to fulfill its potential.Sigfluence is widely neglected, but is a fundamental human need. Loase believes we can transform America by focusing on sigfluence in business, education, politics and in our personal lives. According to Loase, "Sigfluence is a key concept to positively transform America. I was amazed at the potential and need for Sigfluence that I found among the 542 college students we surveyed over three years."
Modeled after Peck's The Road Less Traveled, Sigfluence III is a four-part book about positive influence. Its name is based on a word coined by the author and it means "long-term positive influence." The author argues that language, society, politics, education, psychology, and human beings lack "sigfluence." Loase argues that it is time to get back this sigfluence. His study focuses on key influences that shape people's lives. It offers suggestions on how to unlock hidden potential. Sigfluence III, with its readability and conversational tone, is intended for general readers interested in learning psychology for its enjoyment and value. No preliminary knowledge of psychology is required. Contents: Preface; PART I: Introduction to Sigfluence; PART II: Ten Years of Study - The Early Results; PART III: Applications to Society; PART IV: The Personal Application; Appendix A.

President Obama inspired this book, when, in his recent speech at the University of Texas -Austin, he urged the United States to retake the #1 position in college graduation rates by 2020. President Obama must be aware that our current economic and jobs' crisis will likely plunge us even deeper into an educational quagmire by 2020.Few challenged President Obama's absurd goal.Dr. Loase invented the word sigfluence in 1984 to define significant, long-term, positive influence. In Dr. Loase's 8th book, The Sigfluence Generation, John reveals the enormous Potential and Need of our 18-25 year olds to affect sigfluence. However, they need mentorship from Baby Boomers to realize their potential. Our Millennials need honesty, not lies, to positively transform America. The United States is mired in educational denial and neglect. For each of our nine educational lies, this work exposes the lie and details the remedy. Our crumbling educational infrastructure reflects our society at risk. In order to transform American education, we must overcome our denial and transform ourselves. Our 18-25 year olds are ready. Are we?

Every person has the enormous potential to positively influence others, but there is no word in the English language that describes this. Many who fear their lasting influences and deny that a positive influence is important, pay psychologically for this neglect. The 18-25-year-olds today could change this. They report significantly higher potential and need for lasting positive influence than previous generations. This finding, the result of an extensive survey completed by 542 college students, surprisingly suggests that we may see a paradigm shift in the twenty-first century. However, this generation admits that they need education and guidance from the "elders" to fulfill their influence potential. This interdisciplinary work explores sigfluence, (Loase's new word for significant, long-term, positive influence) from the perspectives of psychology; statistics; mathematical modeling; qualitative research; and personal histories. The evidence, accumulated over two decades of research, supports Dr. Loase's theory that sigfluence is an imperative yet widely neglected personal need, and a key to finding meaning in life.

"The Art of Living" is the first large-scale analysis in English of Erich Fromm's life and his entire printed works. This study addresses both the specialist in a variety of disciplines (psychology, social sciences, philosophy) and a large lay readership. It is written in an appealing style and clearly delineates Fromm's career as a psychoanalyst and a writer, pinpointing the strengths and weaknesses in the work of one of this century's most influential thinkers. Fromm's unflagging insistence on a more humane world emerges here in full relevance for today's reader.
