Tarzan the Terrible Edgar Rice Burroughs - Tarzan the Terrible is the eighth in the series of books about the title character Tarzan. In the previous novel Tarzan the Untamed, during the early days of World War I, Tarzan discovered that his wife Jane was not killed in a fire set by German troops, but was in fact alive. In this novel two months have gone by and Tarzan is continuing to search for Jane. He has tracked her to a hidden valley called Pal-ul-don, which means Land of Men. In Pal-ul-don Tarzan finds a real Jurassic Park filled with dinosaurs, notably the savage Triceratops-like Gryfs, which unlike their prehistoric counterparts are predatory.

Tarzan The Terrible By Edgar Rice Burroughs Edgar Rice Burroughs (1875-1950) was an American author, best known for his creation of the jungle hero Tarzan, although he also produced works in many genres. His first story Under the Moons of Mars was serialised in All-Story magazine in 1912. Burroughs soon took up writing full-time and by the time the run of Under the Moons of Mars had finished he had completed two novels, including Tarzan of the Apes, which was published from October 1912 and went on to become his most successful brand. Burroughs also wrote popular science fiction/fantasy stories involving earthly adventurers transported to various planets, lost islands, and into the interior of the hollow earth in his Pellucidar stories (1915), as well as westerns and historical romances. Along with All-Story, many of his stories were published in the Argosy Magazine. Among his most famous works are: A Princess of Mars (1912), The Return of Tarzan (1913), The Gods of Mars (1913), The Warlord of Mars (1913-14), The Beasts of Tarzan (1914), At the Earth's Core (1914) and The Land that Time Forgot (1918).

Tarzan was the son of a Lord and Lady who were marooned in Africa. After his parents died he was raised in the jungle by Great Apes. These epic stories were created by Edgar Rice Burroughs, the first novel was entitled "Tarzan of the Apes," and thereafter twenty-five other novels were written. Put aside expectations from movie and cartoon versions of the story, the book is much darker and Tarzan is a complex, interesting creation. The stories are fast paced adventures. This edition brings together the first eight novels, in the order in which Burroughs wrote them, a wonderful collection for anyone interested in these classic tales.
