In African Origin found in Religion and Freemasonry: Part II, Brother Griffo and Brother Berkley parallel these ancient arts and sciences to religion, everyday life, and the occults. Their in depth research uncovers how the ancient African practices are concealed behind religious characters and events currently being utilized in several cultural practices. Brother Griffo and Brother Berkley work to reawaken culturally the thinking minds of culturally deprived communities by demonstrating how ancient African arts and sciences can be utilized in modern times without adapting the total lifestyle of ancient Africans. They make a clear distinction between ancient tradition, and its use of modern arts and sciences.

What is it about Freemasonry that would cause Churches to forbid or openly discourage seventy million Americans from membership? Why have eight popes condemned the Lodge? This book, which was first published in 1958 and the first full-length treatment of this subject by an American Catholic in 50 years, was written by William J. Whelan to explain why the Church has warned her sons against affiliating with the Masonic lodge since 1738.

Excerpt from Freemasonry Its Symbolism, Religious Nature, and Law of Perfection Worthy of translation into French, German, or any other language - no modification whatever would be needed. I have written as a Christian, and perhaps, therefore, the work may be deemed more suitable to Freemasons who are Christians than to those of other religions. It would have been wrong, and contrary to the laws of Christianity and of Freemasonry, for me to disguise or conceal my religious sentiments. And whilst Freemasonry delights in opening its portals to all - whatever their religious creed - who hold the great fundamental principles of religion already mentioned, yet, as it has for many ages prevailed chiefly amongst Christian nations, its teachings have been very largely imbued with Christianity, and very many symbols are in general use which admit of no explanation apart, from that religion and from the Holy Bible, which in Christian countries is placed upon the altar of every Lodge, read at every meeting, carried in every Masonic procession, and acknowledged as the Great Light of Freemasonry. If the present work, therefore, should be found more entirely suited to the views of Christian Freemasons than of others, I entertain a perfect confidence that it contains nothing which any Brother - Jew, Mahommedan, or Parsee - can deem offensive. In conclusion, I beg leave to state that I have bestowed much study on the subjects treated of in this work. I do not lay before my readers hastily formed opinions; and I hope, therefore, that many may derive pleasure, and that many may derive instruction from these pages. It would be most gratifying to know, and a sufficient reward for much labour, that the work was generally found acceptable by my Brethren, and that it was extensively useful but I would feel much satisfaction in the thought that I had been able to contribute to the gratification, or the more substantial benefit, even of a single Brother. This powerful study weaves the story of Freemasonry into the narrative of American religious history. Freighted with the mythical legacies of stonemasons’ guilds and the Newtonian revolution, English Freemasonry arrived in colonial America with a vast array of cultural baggage, which was drawn on, added to, and transformed during its sojourn through American culture. David G. Hackett argues that from the 1730s through the early twentieth century the religious worlds of an evolving American social order broadly appropriated the beliefs and initiatory practices of this all-male society. For much of American history, Freemasonry was both counter and complement to Protestant churches, as well as a forum for collective action among racial and ethnic groups outside the European American Protestant mainstream. Moreover, the cultural template of Freemasonry gave shape and content to the American "public sphere." By including a group not usually seen as a carrier of religious beliefs and rituals, Hackett expands and complicates the terrain of American religious history by showing how Freemasonry has contributed to a broader understanding of the multiple influences that have shaped religion in American culture.
